U.S. Coast Guard Academy

I just saw a video that was released yesterday and I want to share it with you. I feel very passionate about supporting our nation’s military. Whether or not you agree with the policies and politicians and their choices about what to do with our military, the men and women on the ground, in the air, or on the seas are there because they believe in protecting this country and all who live within it. They have sacrificed their lives and their freedom for your life and your freedom, let’s just hope none of them need to lose their lives in their sacrifice.
When I was a young man, I joined the Navy. I didn’t stay in very long, but I think it is because I chose the wrong branch of service, and I would have felt more at home within the Coast Guard. That not withstanding, I have spent a large portion of my adult life actively supporting the military in one fashion or another, and I plan to continue being a proud contributor to our nation and the forces that protect it.
If you are as passionate about the coast guard as I am, do what I did and join the Coast Guard Auxilliary.

Local Stripers are Getting Bigger.

So all summer long I have been watching the Striped Bass grow. When I started working here earlier this summer, I had a 12 to 13 inch striper jump into my boat. Of course I set it free, and did so right before I thought about pulling my iPhone out to take a shot. No picture, didn’t happen right?

That’s ok, I have been watching these fish grow all summer long a little at a time. These fish are _almost_ big enough to keep. They are about 24 inches right now.

Let me tell you something. An iPhone is really not a great camera for trying to take pictures into the water at any hour let alone at night, but these guys were just asking me to take their picture so here are two better shots, not good shots, just better than the rest. The first gives the scale of the fish, see if you can find it. The second shows the fish eyes reflecting the flash from my iPhone camera.
Almost time to bring out the fishing rod.
