Today is 9/11 shadowed by the recent Hurricane Irma destroying people’s lives. Every year I end up watching this video and choking up yet one more time. I am humbled by all the captains of boats large and small that rushed in to get people out of ground zero and out of New York City. My hat is off to each and every one of you known and unknown heroes of the day.
I just saw a video that was released yesterday and I want to share it with you. I feel very passionate about supporting our nation’s military. Whether or not you agree with the policies and politicians and their choices about what to do with our military, the men and women on the ground, in the air, or on the seas are there because they believe in protecting this country and all who live within it. They have sacrificed their lives and their freedom for your life and your freedom, let’s just hope none of them need to lose their lives in their sacrifice.
When I was a young man, I joined the Navy. I didn’t stay in very long, but I think it is because I chose the wrong branch of service, and I would have felt more at home within the Coast Guard. That not withstanding, I have spent a large portion of my adult life actively supporting the military in one fashion or another, and I plan to continue being a proud contributor to our nation and the forces that protect it.
If you are as passionate about the coast guard as I am, do what I did and join the Coast Guard Auxilliary.
